In a bid to accelerate the developmental agenda initiated by the Baboko Community Secondary School, Ilorin National Alumni Association (BCSS-INAA) leadership under Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala, the Honourable Commissioner for Education Dr Lawal Oloungbebe, the school management led by the Principal, The Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) representatives and the Dr Abdulraheem Muritala and his Executive members, paid an official inspection visit to the school premises and its surrounding environment. This visit marks a significant step forward in addressing the pressing infrastructural challenges facing the institution.

Following a comprehensive on-site assessment, the Honourable Commissioner observed that several classrooms are in a dilapidated state, with many lacking adequate furniture or teaching aids. The Commissioner concurred with the findings of the BCSS National Alumni Association, acknowledging the urgent need for renovation to restore the school to a conducive standard for teaching and learning.

Speaking on behalf of the National Alumni Association, the National President, Dr Abdulraheem Muritala, expressed profound gratitude to the Honourable Commissioner for his swift response to their appeal. “We are immensely grateful for the Honourable Commissioner’s visit and the immediate attention he has given to our concerns. This shows genuine commitment to the future of our children and the integrity of our educational system,” he stated.

During the visit, the alumni body submitted a detailed list of requests critical to the revitalization of the school. These included:

  • Construction of a modern, well-equipped library and science laboratory
  • Renovation of all classrooms and provision of adequate furniture
  • Establishment of fully functional and furnished staff offices
  • General improvement of the school’s learning and administrative infrastructure

The National Alumni Association emphasized that these requests should be treated as an educational emergency. According to the leadership, the transformation of the school will not only benefit the students but will also serve as a beacon of hope and progress for the host community.

“A remodelled BCSS will be more than just a school,” noted Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala. “It will be the nexus between our community and the enduring truth that education remains the surest path to success. We are committed to making this vision a reality, and we trust the government’s support in doing so.”

The Honourable Commissioner assured the school management and the alumni body of the government’s readiness to prioritize the renovation and development of educational institutions across the state. Plans are already underway to begin phased interventions to meet the outlined demands.

This collaborative effort between the government, school leadership, and the alumni association is expected to yield long-term benefits for the students, staff, and wider community, reinforcing the critical role of education in societal transformation.
